School is …
From a retired schoolteacher friend …
Once upon a time I taught in a middle school, and one of the assignments I gave was to say what school was like. Today, rummaging through old boxes, I found some of what they wrote:
School is separate than going to the dentist: I would rather go to the dentist.
School reminds me of the president talking on tv—it lasts forever.
School mirrors an electric socket with no plug.
School and a cheap carnival ride are alike because we do things over and over again.
School resembles a banjo with broke strings.
When I think of school my first kiss has nothing to do with it.
School doesn’t make me remember the time my family went to Walt Disney.
School doesn’t resemble a trick on a friend.
School is like a party with no people.
School is like someone who is trying to play the piano, but doesn’t know how.
School never will mirror a mirror of mine that shows all my features.
School is nothing like my lamb.
School doesn’t resemble an African island.
